The club holds three different classes of obedience on their normal club nights, they are :-
PUPPY OBEDIENCE
Learn the basics , how to get your puppy to sit, how to get them to go down, walking to heel and much more as well as one of the most important things with puppies socialization, getting your puppy to mix with other puppies.
INTERMEDIATE
Take the obedience on one step further much the same commands as in the first class but mastering them that little bit more.Get your dog to walk to heel and take notice of you, get them to sit stay or down stay while you stand away from them. Do a recall off the lead, and start to teach your dog to retrieve an article.
By the time you have been in this class for a while you should be at a standard where you are able to enter and pass the kennel club's good citizen bronze award, the club will hold a test for you to do this when it feels that there is a number of dogs that are ready to take it.
ADVANCED
This obedience class will take you to a level where if you wish to be able to enter and do well in an obedience class at a show, you will learn to walk your dog off the lead to heel, do a stay out of sight, retrieve a dumb bell, distance commands and even scent work, plus much much more.
Remember though that just training your dog at the club once a week will not be enough, to get a well trained obedient dog you have to practice at home even if it is just for 10 minutes or so a day, its hard work (especially with a boxer !) but very rewarding . |
